Independent.
Pro-union (within reason) I am for closing of the border, but if we did something like that doubling our quota for immigration. (I read somewhere that 10% of people sneaking are violent felons). As much constitutional freedom as possible. I am strongly for rehabilitating criminals/felons and giving them second or third chance not continuing the endless cycle for some. I think with a black president we can now end affirmative-action. I am for putting a serious solution on the table for the middle east crisis involving Palestinians and Israelis one that is mutual. At this point they have had over half century to curtail differences, the world clearly needs to handle it forcibly for now. |

I have changed so much over the years. Where I am today is not where I was 10 years ago or even 5 years ago. Where I am today I may not be 5 years from now, as I am learning to look at the issues and make up my own mind.
Today Aug. 20 2009 I am a Roman Catholic and believe in the teachings of Jesus. I believe in the social gospel of Jesus in helping the poor, sick, and the environment. I am a member of the Green Party. I consider myself a Progressive but there are a couple of issues that I disagree with Progressives on. I march to my own drummer and sometimes it can be a very lonely place, because I am not marching to the same drummer as everyone else is. At the same time because I am a strong Catholic I believe in strong traditonal families. I am pro family. I believe in unions because workers need someone to speak and represent them. At the same time I see the corruption of some unions. I believe in government but at the same time I see the evil corruption that has caused the government to not represent the people but those who give the large amount of money to those who serve in government. I see the dishonesty and the corruption and I don't trust them. Americans are sick and tired of the lies that our government tells us. We just want them to have the courage to tell the truth. The policies that this government does around the world in our name is terrible. Torture of prisoners, murder of women and children by their drones in a war that doesn't seem close to ending;even though Americans believe we need to bring the troops home. It doesn't seem to matter what President is elected the problems don't get solved and it is more of the same ole same ole. We are not dealing with climate change and making the real changes that need to be made. We are poisoning ourselves and our children. We are polluting the water, land, air, and oceans to the point that we are making ourselves and our children sick. I posted on my blog today three stories about the environment. One about the mercy found in fish that is causing us to have health problems, food processing plants polluting drinking water in MI and around the country, and the plastic trash heap in the ocean is seeping out chemicals into the ocean that is harmful scientists now say. We are killing ourselves, but yet, a lot of people around the world don't care or believe that we need to change the way we do things. I still believe that we must continue to try and change things and that is why I believe in third parties. I don't believe real change is going to come from either the Republican or Democratic parties. They are both corrupted and they both serve the large corporations and not the American people. We have the best government money can buy and not the best government for the American people. I don't know what the future holds but if we can't find someway to bring real change in how we do things than we don't have much of a future. If we poison our food and water supply around the world so that it is uneatable or undrinkable because it will make us sick or slowly kill us, than how do we survive? I know on one Progressive site I go to people talk about starting to grow your own food and only buy from local orgainic farmers. I am all for that. Yet, if the soil we grow the food in is toxic because of the chemicals than we are eating toxic food. I will end with this quote: "Our choice is not whether change will come, but whether we can guide that change in the service of our ideals and toward a social order shaped to the needs of all our people. In the long run we can master change not through force or fear, but only through the free work of an understanding mind, through an openness of true knowledge and fresh outlooks which can only strengthen the most fragile and the most powerful of human gifts; the gift of reason." (RFK, Make Gentle the life of this world) Robert Kennedy is one of my heroes. I was 10 years old when he was murdered. I really like the book Make Gentle the life of this world and the different quotes included in the book. I quote a lot from that book and I know that it has made a difference of good in my life. It woke me up and I am still waking up to the truths contained in that book.

Good post Chrisy.
Bobby Kennedy was a great man IMO. He said a lot of good things and probably stopped black anger after MLK's death getting out of control by that speech where he reminded the crowds that he'd had a brother who'd also been shot by a white man. I particularly like this quote of his; "There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/qu...enn135405.html

Quote:
I have always liked that quote. I am one of those people who asks why not. I am the dreamer or the idealist. Yet, I am also a fighter. I think that is why I picked him as my hero as a child because I saw those same qualities on him too. Here is another quote that encourages and inspires me to keep fighting within the political system we have to bring the government back to where they represent WE THE PEOPLE instead of WE THE CORPORATIONS: Everything that makes man's life worthwhile-family, work, education, a place to rear one's children, and a place to rest one's head-all this depends on decisions of government; all can be swept away by a government which does not heed the demands of its people. Therefore, the essential humanity of men can be protected and perserved only where government must answer-not to the WEALTHY, not just to those of a particular religion, or a particular race, but to ALL ITS PEOPLE.(RFK, page 25, make Gentle the life of this world) In America we now have a government who serves the wealthy. Pay to play is not new or isn't just islated to IL. Who sponsored both conventions last year? Large corporations who now are getting favors from both parties. We the people are forgotten and are being lied to. In a way it is our own fault because we allowed these men and women to LIE to us, commit EVIL around the world in our name and are not making them give an accounting for their actions. We make excuses, are in denial, or even worst we know that they are doing these evil things and don't care enough to rock the boat. A White Nationalist or Black Nationalist wants a government to answer only to their race. If you are of the same race than you have all the rights and the government will represent you, but if you happen to be of another race the government will be used to keep you a second class citizen or even worst if the leader of that government is someone like Hiter who will use the government as a killing machine. It was quotes like these that really got me to start waking up from the spell I was under. For all the talk of doing all that they(White Nationalists) do for love of race and how they don't hate anyone, their actions and their words are filled with hate. They can't even see the poison that comes out of their mouths. If what they did was truly done only out of LOVE for their own race, than why is there so much talk of how terrible other races are? I used to look at the pictures they would post and I would see people without any souls. They had lost their humanity. Was it reading his quotes and remembering the words of one of my heroes who saved me? Was it finding my way back home to the Catholic Church and allowing the words spoken by the priest during mass, reading the daily readings, praying the rosary, and opening my heart up to Jesus and Mother Mary that save me? Maybe it was a combo of both of them that brought about my change? Though I believe the truth is that Christ is the one who brought about my change. He has a purpose for me and even though I don't see what the purpose is for me right now, I do know that God will use me to help others.

For the most part I am a Libertarian, although I disagree on some points. I could even be considered a bit of a Constitutionalist.
I am for closing the borders. Putting our troops on them, instead of a battlefield across the planet. I believe Europe should be, and stay European. I am a Folkish Asatruar/Odinist. I can't stand Republicans or Democrats. I believe that Felines are a superior race. Right up there with Llamas, and Bees. My beliefs are that there is a conspiracy of mayo lovers out to rule the world. |
